This set is a piece that focuses on the aspect of Athena being the Goddess of War Strategy rather than her being the Goddess of Wisdom or Handicraft. One of the things that Athena is notably known for is the Trojan War. I drew inspiration from the Ancient Greek war uniforms, with the deep red garments reflected in the cape and skirt with the gold armor being shown through the corset. While this dress focuses on her being the Goddess of War Strategy I did want to incorporate a symbol of her wisdom. Blue is a common color that is used when representing Athena and I felt that it would be perfect to make the skirt a two-toned skirt, red on the outside and blue on the inside.
The entire set is made of polyester satin. The Gold corset meant to represent armor with the hand beaded red gems hanging off of the neckline to represent blood from the wars of ancient Greece. The two toned skirt was something I really wanted to highlight on as it shows both sides of Athena, her war side and her wisdom.
