This is the piece that gave me the idea for this collection. It’s a gold hand beaded strapless gown, using tambour embroidery I embedded motifs important to Hera, such as lilies, lotus flowers, and peacock feathers. Hera is the Queen of Gods or most commonly known as the Goddess of Marriage, Women, Family and known as the protector of women. She is one of the first deities to have a temple built for her and was considered very important in regard to Ancient Greece. With her legacy being so powerful, it made her the perfect goddess for the foundation of this collection.
I chose Ella to be my model for this piece because she truly embodies everything that Hera stands for. She reflects the strength and love that Hera embodies and I knew she would be perfect for this gown.
The entire dress is made with Silk Organza and hand beaded using the tambour embroidery method. The entire piece took around 200 hours to complete in its entirety. In the main part of the bodice I embroidered motifs of lilies and lotus flowers, which are two symbols that represent Hera.
