The Queen of the Underworld, Goddess of spring. This design felt essential to the collection long before it was fully formed. I knew I wanted to focus on her being the Goddess of Spring rather than her more darker undertones of being the Queen of the Underworld. When I studied abroad in the summer of 2024 and I was fortunate to be able to come across a breathtaking fabric. With this fabric that was made in India and sold to me in an international market in Italy, made what this dress is today, a piece that captures Persephone’s renewal and light, from a vendor that found his own renewal and light in a new home.
This design is one where the fabric came before the actual design. The pink sheer embroidered floral design truly embraces the spirit of who Persephone is as the Goddess of Spring. Having this focus being on the core and most true part of the Goddess really highlights the thing most people look past.
